Cashing a Check

Cashing a check is always kind of something that no one really seems to know how to do, especially when it comes directly from your own account. Here are some rules to get you started. First, every time you cash a check, expect to be asked for an ID. Make your teller's life easy and always give them your ID when you cash any checks or make any withdrawals. Next, always endorse your check with your signature.

When making out a check to be cashed off your own account, make it out either to yourself or to "cash." Do not make it out to the bank.

If you need your cash back in a particular way, post-it notes are an unspoken helper. Any teller will honor a hand-written note as long as it makes sense with your transaction.
